Research Associate Marie Favereau spoke at the International Medieval Congress in Leeds in July. Her panel was titled “Crossing Cultural and Religious Boundaries: Exchange and Conflict in the Black Sea and Asia” and Dr Favereau spoke on ” The Trading Khans: Commercial Partnerships and Social Cohesion within the Golden Horde, 1260-1360″.
She also gave a lecture in Paris La Sorbonne on October 5th, in a programme organised by the Institut de recherche sur Byzance, I’Islam et la Méditerranée au Moyen-Age , on the conversion to Islam of the Mongol rulers (Quand le khan devient sultan: Islam et Politique dans la Horde d’Or (XIIIe-XIVe s.).
